Revolution (Dynamic Overdrive)

(7 customer reviews)

£259.00

The Flattley Revolution pedal was recently featured in Guitarist Magazine Issue 474 August 2021 and further details on this amazing review can be found  on our “News” section under the “Home” and “About” pages. The Flattley Revolution pedal was also given the  “Guitarist Choice” award which we are really proud of and is a testament to the Revolution pedal’s tonal flexibility and quality. You can also watch the Guitarist Magazine demo video of the Revolution pedal on its product page.

The “Revolution” dynamic overdrive pedal is a powerful and very flexible overdrive pedal. It’s based on a tube screamer style circuit but on “steroids” giving you smooth creamy overdrive tones full of depth and reactive sounds depending on your style of playing. It comes installed with a three-way toggle switch which gives you complete overdrive tonal flexibility when you need it. With the switch in the centre position the overdrive circuit runs through an Op amp integrated circuit, the switch in the upper/forward position the circuit runs through silicon diodes, the switch in the rearward/aft position runs through LED diodes providing three different types of overdrive clipping. The Revolution gives you three separate overdrive pedals in one box and is one of my personal all-time favourite pedals.

The blue halo light ring installed diffuses the light when playing live, avoiding being blinded by the standard LEDs just as you are about to go into that all important solo thus giving a larger area to see where the pedal is located easily on the pedal board on darkened stages. The addition of the aluminium foot topper gives you more real estate for contact when switching the pedal on and off during quick changes when playing live.

All Flattley “Platinum Range” pedals are hand processed in our Flattley paint shop. The bare aluminium enclosure is abraded prior to painting with the etch primer. The etch primer acts as a anti corrosive layer and allows the primer to bond to the enclosure ensuring a tough resilient paint finish.

Multiple coats of base coat primer are applied which are then lightly abraded to remove any blemishes or paint speckles prior to the application of the base colour. We apply several coats of base colour until an even coverage occurs and the base colour develops rich smooth depth. Metallic holographic chrome flake is then applied using a clear inter coat which adds that all important Flattley sparkle.

The pedal enclosure is now ready to be hydro dipped in its Flattley graphics. This is the process whereby the graphics are applied using water activated film, the residual PVA film is then washed off and the enclosure is then allowed to dry naturally.

Once dried the lacquer process begins. Each “Flattley Platinum” pedal has a minimum of three coats of lacquer which are all wet sanded between coats. Once the lacquer has hardened, it is then hand polished using three different grades of polishing compounds and it then has a final polish to achieve a high gloss finish using a wool finishing pad. This process gives the smooth deep lustre finish that is inherent in all Flattley Guitar and Bass effects pedals.

All the overdrive you could ever need. The toggle switch allows you to get three really different sounding drives, each to my ear sounding more open than the last, creating a sense of presence and headroom. You can get some excellent clarity from this as well as some really thick hard hitting tones, especially when paired with a centurion. It’s my go to combination.

    • Paul Flattley

Thanks for the kind words Josh, the Revolution is my all time favourite pedal. Just love the tone and the flexibility. Regards Team Flattley

  2. Chris Gedge

USED to use an ibanez tubescreamer till I tried this. Tested it through a Fender valve combo and holy s**t. Also works great with my Taurus stomp head 5 amp. An extremely versatile Overdrive which caters for everyone’s taste ??☕

  3. Glynn

Love this pedal… tubescreamer alternative with bags of gain. Even with the gain all the way up, which is a lot of dirty, it remains transparent and dynamic. With less gain and the pedal driving the amp it is so dynamic and responds to your playing beautifully. All this and a wealth of tonal/feel options this really is a superb piece of kit.

    • Paul Flattley

Hi Glynn, thanks for the great comments and we are really happy that the “Revolution does exactly what you want it to de. Its a personal favourite of mine too. Many thanks and best regards Team Flattley

I’ve used Xotic’s BB Preamp for most of my OD for several years now and I am blown away by the Revolution. As the gain goes up with this unit, it does retain a clarity. I’m still experimenting with the different sounds that I’m getting out of this unit. Really happy with the tone and control I’m getting on my Mesa Lonestar, and it’s just as awesome with my PRS Tremonti (the gig setup nowadays). Definitely recommend! I didn’t even mention how cool that thing looks!

    • Paul Flattley

      Hi Roman
Thanks for your very kind words and we’re very happy that you love your Flattley Revolution pedal. This pedal is one of my personal favourites.
      Many thanks and best regards

As a 40 year professional, band member and composer, I long since gave up trying to find an overdrive that topped what I have used since day 1 – A Boss SD-1. Given my amplification (Vox AC-15, Roland JC120) and various vintage Fenders, the SD-1 gave my amps the perfect push to breakup. Through numerous recording sessions and live gigs, I’ve used and tried everything. But I always came back to the SD-1. Upon reading an interview with Billy Duff recently, I noticed he swapped his Lovepedal out for the Revolution. I was intrigued since it turns out Billy and I use similar gear.

My initial thought was, the designer (Paul) is really an artist and all the magic of this pedal is in the exterior artwork, not in the electronics, which is BTW, really stunning. I was wrong. The Revolution woke something up in my Vox. It opened it up, gave it more clarity, allowed more creamy lushness to come through. Days earlier, I sent 6 guitar tracks to my writing partner and recalled them all so I could re-record everything using the Revolution.

I have mine set to the silicon diode and keep the gain set at 7:00. My amp is set right before breakup and at this setting (in tandem with my pre-amp and compressor) it brought my tone to perfect overdrive. This pedal will accompany me on all future sessions. If I could plug this into meals, drinks and all life experiences, my sense is, it would enhance those things too.

Paul I don’t know you but your genius and love of your craft shine through every single note I now play.

Thank you for creating this pedal.
    Marc

Hi Marc, thanks for the amazing review that you have posted. We are absolutely delighted that you love this pedal and it has changed your rig, replacing an amazing brand pedal. We hope that you continue to enjoy your revolution pedal for many years and can get it out into the live arena soon now that some things are starting to come back to some form of what we used to call normal. Many thanks and best regards, Paul Flattley

  6. thiago

This is the best Tube Screamer I’ve ever played. Very versatile and sounds fantastic in the mix. Rolling back the volume of the guitar it cleans up beautifully.
Op-Amp is my favorite clipping mode, but the other two are great too.

    • Paul Flattley

Hi Thiago, thank you for your kind words. We are delighted that it does what you need and that you are enjoying your new Revolution pedal. Hope it gives you many years of great service and enjoyment. Many thanks, regards Paul

  7. dalbessard

This pedal is insane. Very dynamic and organic. This is the best OD i’ve ever played. Better that an original TS. Stacked very well with other drives and Muffs. Bravo et merci Paul ! Damien from Paris.

    • Paul Flattley

Hi Damien, thanks for the kind words and we are really happy that the Revolution is just what you wanted and yes the Revolution is my favourite too. Many thanks, regards Paul
